I’m a huge fan of the Coen brothers’ movies, and I rank “Raising Arizona” among my favorites of their films (“Fargo” being No. 1; thanks for asking). The lines recreated above by Merle and Donny take place as Evelle stops into a convenience store to buy disposable diapers for the kidnapped baby and then makes an impulse buy of a bag of balloons. A throwaway moment, to be sure, but classic Coen deadpan humor.
